Halloween Costume Shopping at the Shops at Montebello

 

Halloween is 49 days away. You may think it's too early to think about costumes, but if you ask your kids, they've probably been thinking about their costume since November 1, 2012.

This month stores at the Shops at Montebello are receiving their stock of Halloween costumes. Kid Halloween-themed events occur throughout the month of October, including a special Wizard of Oz themed event on 9/21 at the Shops at Montebello. For the best selection of costumes you'll want to head out this month to find the perfect costume for your little munchkin!

Claire's is a treasure trove of items to turn your daughter into a Hollywood Starlet, Nerd, Vampress, Cat, Ladybug, or Beauty Queen. From crowns, to false glitter eyelashes, to pearls, Claire's has a lot of costume goods for Halloween and was my first stop.

For a little girl I found this Kid's Circus Tutu from Claire's for $12 that would serve perfectly for the costume base of a clown, fairy, or princess! Top it with bright leggings, t-shirt, add a wand, crown, or red clown nose and she's set for Halloween!

My girls have gone through a few sets of wings, but these Glitter Rainbow Wings from Claire's feel very sturdy, and I expect them to last a while. Make of sturdy wire piping, and with thick elastic straps, these butterfly or fairy wings will make any little girl feel like she could fly! $10.

Pin Up Bootique is a relatively new store at the Shops at Montebello and is located on the lower level near Marie Calendars. The Bootique carries vintage inspired clothing from sizes 2T for children through 4X for women, and 6X for men. Looking at the styles was like a walk back in time. The store will set up it's Halloween Bootique this week and features matching outfits for families!

This 50s inspired Bowler Shirt is perfect for a little boy that wants to don the 50s style this Halloween. Cuff the hem on a pair of dark jeans, throw on some Converse sneakers, grease his hair back, add a wallet chain, and your kid is bound to win costume contests with this retro outfit! $34.99, Pin Up Bootique.

Since costumes are a seasonal item stores often do not get new stock to replenish items. Shop early for the best selection and sizes before all the good costumes are gone! Costumes can also be found at Crazy 8, Gymboree, the HQ, the Disney Store, and Macy's.
