The event website says, "SAVE THE DATE! This year will mark the 40th Annual Festival of the Kite, Sunday March 9, 2014. We'll have live music, martial arts demonstrations, a regional yo-yo competition, performance by Dance One of Redondo Beach, Hot dog on a Stick Eating Contest with a $200 cash prize for the winner, Prizes for the Highest flying kite, Best handmade kite, Youngest kite flyer of the day, and the Youngest at heart. There will be music pumped to the beach, and we'll have something going on throughout the day on Redondo Pier and South of The Pier on the beach, Noon to 5PM. This will be our biggest event ever! FREE and open to everyone."
