Aquarium of the Pacific Free Kids Fun Run: Long Beach, 10/8, Register now!

Kids 6-12 years old can register for the Aquarium of the Pacific's Kid One-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, October 8, 2011.

Registration is open to the first 2,000 children. Register now to reserve a spot!

All children who participate will receive free entry into the Aquarium of the Pacific on race day, a medal, and  a Finishers Certificate.

Kids run with their age group. Start times begin at 9am with the 12 year olds and finish with the 6 year olds at 11:40am.

Diabetes EXPO: Saturday, 5/21, 10am - 4pm

The American Diabetes Association is hosting a Diabetes Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Saturday, May 21.  The ADA website says,

The Los Angeles EXPO is FREE and includes health screenings, cooking demonstrations, product and service exhibitors and leading experts talking about diabetes management and prevention for Seniors, Youth and all ethnic populations.

The Expo runs from 10:00am  to 4:00pm. Convention Center parking is $12 or take the Metro and save. Pre-register online and avoid waiting in line. For more information click here.

Water Reclamation & Landfill Tour: Saturday 6/4, 9-12:30pm

Find out what happens behind the scenes when you flush the toilet or the garbage truck hauls the trash away.

The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County is offering a free tour of the San Jose Creek Water Reclamation Plant (NW corner of the 60 & 605 Freeways) and the Puente Hills Landfill.

The tours are scheduled for Saturday, June 4. The tour of the Water Reclamation Plant begins at 9:00 and the Puente Hills Landfill tour starts at 10:30. Interested parties can join one or both tours. Tours start at the Sanitation District Office on Workman Mill Road in Whittier. All tour participants must be 7 years or older.

The Krikorian Theatre in Pico Rivera is hosting a summer series of movies for kids and their families!
