School Supply Drive: Montebello, 8/24

The Hook Up Resource Center is hosting a school supply drive. The Resource Center provides clothing, internet resources, clothing, and now school supplies to Veterans and members of the community. School supplies can be dropped off at the Resource Center located at 923 W. Whittier Blvd in Montebello on Saturday, August 24 from 10am-6pm.

Bracelet Making Event: Toys R Us Stores, 10 Saturdays!

Visit any Toys R Us store on every Saturday from August 24 through October 26 from 10am-Noon for a Cra-Z-Loom Bracelet making event. This event is intended for ages 6 and older. Supplies are limited. Events only occur at regular Toys R Us locations, they do not occur at Express or Outlet stores.

Mexican Cultural Festival: Olvera Street, Sunday, 8/18

 

A free family festival will be held this Sunday, August 18, at Olvera Street in downtown L.A. from 10am-9pm that will feature live entertainment, artists, games for children, and more. One of the entertainers will be Sebastian de la Cruz, the 11-year-old boy who sang the National Anthem at the Spurs game.

I've attended this event a few times and Office Depot usually has a tote bag with some freebies and continental breakfast available to the first group of teachers that arrive. Special pricing and discounts are available the day of the event. Teachers are encouraged to register in Office Depot's MyStarTeacher program prior to the event.

*The flyer does not have the time, but the store opens at 9am, so I expect the Teacher Appreciation Event starts at 9am.
