Parent/Child Summer Classes: Montebello, July 2011

The Montebello Adult School program hosts Mommy & Me type class for pre-schoolers and their parents. The classes usually run in the fall and spring semesters but this summer July classes are available!

The information for this particular Summer class came from Ms. Katie, who runs the program at Bella Vista Elementary school in Room 36, 2410 Findlay Ave., Monterey Park. Summer parking is available in the staff parking lot.

Class Information:

• Registration cards will be handed out on the first day of class only.
• Please take registration card to: Montebello Adult School offices at 149 N. 21st Street. 
• Registration cards are due no later than July 12.
• The registration fee is $5.50 for one child, or $7.50 for two children.
• No students will be added after July 7th.
• We have snack time in during class. Please bring a nutritious lunch/snack for you and your child. For example: fruits, veggies, sandwiches, pasta, water, and milk.
• Consistent and regular attendance is mandatory for the support of this program.

Armenian Food Festival: Montebello, Saturday 6/25

The annual Armenian Food Festival at Holy Cross Church will be held this weekend, Saturday, June 25 from Noon - 10pm.

There will be live music, dancing, cooking demonstrations, shopping, a kid zone and lots more.

Free U2 Concert Tickets!

Nancy from San Gabriel shared an event where you can get free U2 concert tickets! You'll need to be available to donate a pair of shoes at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood on Tuesday 6/14 from 3-4pm. Huggies Pull Ups and Disney are offering a free encouragement call for potty training toddlers. Parents can register online to have Cinderella or Lightning McQueen call their child on their cell phone within 15 minutes of registering. I stopped by the Montebello Disney store today and I was given a Cars 2 promotion event booklet. There will be Cars 2 in-store events every Saturday in June. Each Saturday will feature a new challenge and kids will receive a passport that they can stamp at each event.

Saturday, June 11: Mater's Secret Mission, Italy, help Mater create a secret identity (10:30, Noon, 1:30pm)

Kids Eat Free & parents can get Free Aquarium of the Pacific Tickets at Kavikas in Long Beach

If you are planning a trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach you can pick up free discount tickets by dining at Kavikas. Kavikas is a restaurant adjacent to the parking structure for the Aquarium of the Pacific. It is located on the second level by Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant.

Kavikas offers two promotions for families that can be used together:

• Kids Eat Free: One child can eat for free off of the kids menu for each adult menu entree.
• Free Aqurarium Ticket: Order a "Sustainable Seafood" entree and get a free ticket to the Aquarium of the Pacific.   July 2012: The promotion has been changed to a coupon for $5 off the price of an adult ticket or $3 the price of a child ticket.

My family dined at Kavikas and ordered two adult entrees and 3 child entrees. We paid about $40 and received a free Aquarium ticket for my husband's fish entree. Kavikas is a very nice restaurant and the food was delicious. I highly recommend it as the place to get dinner and free discount aquarium tickets.

Get more free Aquarium tickets at the Aquarium of the Pacific's One-Mile Kid's Fun Run. Register your child to participate and they will receive free admission to the Aquarium on raceday.

The Aquarium offers a 10% discount for AAA members, Regular adult admission is $25, seniors are $22, and children (3-11) are $13, children 2 and under are free. Parking in the structure adjacent to the Aquarium is $8.

In today's mail was an Albertsons Book of Saving with two coupons on the back cover that will double a manufacturer's coupon up to $1! The fine print says you need to have an Albertsons club card and it's limited to one coupon per customer per transaction. To make the most out of this double coupon, use it with a manufacturer's coupon valued at $1.00 or more.

FYI: Did you know you can combine a store coupon with a manufacturer's coupon? For example, on the front of the Albertsons Book of Savings is a coupon for Coca-Cola. The Albertsons store coupon will give you 3 12-packs of soda for $11. I have a coupon for $2 off 2 12-packs, combine that with the double coupon and I'll end up paying $8 for the 3 12-packs, or 22 cents a can which is pretty close to my stock up price.
